I've gotten the nausea under control, thanks to you ladies recommending starburst candy! Awesome! Here's my latest discomfort: My BOOBS are so sore. Nobody is allowed anywhere near them. I read everywhere that this is a typical first trimester problem, "sore breasts" is an understatement! I do not remember them being this sore with my first pregnancy, but my husband tells me that I complained about it all the time and I must have blocked it out of my memory. ANyway is there anything that you ladies have done to help alleviate breast pain in pregnancy?
I would try a combo of heating pad and Tylenol. I know it isn't good to pop a lot of pills, but Tylenol is pretty safe and sometimes you just need a little tiny bit of relief! You also might experiment with bras and see if one is more comfortable than another.
I feel for you, though. It can be really painful!
How have all of you prepared your children for the arrival of a new baby? Kieran is elated, but at four I'm sure he doesn't yet realize that he'll have to share mommy with the new baby, and that the newborn will have to take priority over him a number of times! I'd love some tips from all you experienced parents out there!
I can't remember how I told my daughter about the new baby. SHe was 6 was I was pregnant and I guess I kinda expected that she would deal. I know we told her right about it. She wasn't so happy that the baby was going to sleep in her room but she really didn't have to worry since that really didn't work out. I guess I didn't really help at all.
I actually got a great book for my daughter, who was 3 when I was pregnant with the twins and when they were born. She had a really hard time with it, especially coping with me on bed rest for so long and the twins in the NICU (and us going back and forth to the hospital so much). It's I'm a Big Sister. You could get your son the boy version, I'm a Big Brother. She really adjusted so well once we started reading that book, and she wanted to read it every night. It emphasizes how great it is to be a big kid, and not a baby (and she was starting to play baby when they arrived), and it talks about why babies cry so much, etc.
Okay, most of you have been through this. I feel sick ALL the time. I'm trying my darndest to cope with the nausea, but last night I blew chunks and I'm afraid it's going to happen again today. What tips do you have, to help me feel better? Here's what I'm doing: I'm using nice candles, drinking orange tea, eating small good meals, and trying to get enough rest. It's not enough! I'll probably just have to suffer through the first trimester blues.
yeah, taylorblue, that totally makes sense, because going too long without eating makes me sick! That unfortunately means that I have to get up at 4am because even if I ate a snack at 11pm, it won't get me through to 9am (the time I actually want to get up). Okay, now I REALLY want starburst, that sounds soooo good to me. I'm thinking, is there a flavor that i'd prefer? NO, they all sound AWESOME!!!! Thanks for the tips!
My prenatal yoga instructor told us that the reason you crave candy (I was addicted to Starburst!) is because sugar is easy to digest. How often have you thrown up Starburst?? heheh....
I was so sick with my first baby. I puked all the time. I thought I was going to die. I had to take gravol to manage it. But with my second one I was sick the whole time. Nausea and headaches...I just found that if I kept something in my stomach I wouldn't puke. I ate alot of Starburst! I think relaxing is a really good idea. Also try not to associate food as a bad thing. I know that once I did that with the first pregnancy I managed a lot better...
Am I even making any sense...???
Okay, I am almost four days LATE and I'm never more than a day late, the idea of chocolate makes me want to barf, and my boobs are tender. Yeay! And we JUST started trying, this past month. Gosh, I'm fertile myrtle. Anyway. The last time around, it was just after Christmas when I found out I was pregnant. So I put the EPT stick (with the cap on the pee end, so it wasn't gross) in a box with pretty tissue paper, wrapped it and put a neat bow on it and when Brian came home from work, there it was under the tree as a late xmas gift. He unwrapped it said, "what's this?" and I said, "it's a hormone detector, daddy!"
SO this time around I gotta do something different. It's almost Fathers Day so what can I do with that, I don't care if it has anything to do with that day or not. I just want some creative ideas to pop around in my head cuz I'm not the type to just blurt it out without any drama. Thank you, all!!!
Yes, I did the detector stick thing too, it is always a lovely moment. I love the plant idea. I always thought that I´d be able to wait a few weeks and tell him in some unusual way, but I was so excited that I just told him the minute I knew. You just can´t help it I suppose. It´s too much to keep to yourself. I feel sick almost from day 1 so easy to guess for him anyway! I´m white as a sheet and can´t keep anything down! Romance on hold for the first 3 months anyway!
How about a father's day card from each of you. One from you, one from your first borne and one from "the your last name here to be named later"
You guys are funny...LOL...I only tried for 3 months with my son and they said I couldn't get pregnant again. It's always fun to try!!!
Thank you for googling that geocities preg announcements, that was lots of fun! And you have a very cute idea, too. I think I'll get a plant for my son actually, he likes growing stuff. Oh well so much for being creative with my husband, I ended up blurting it out to him today when I visited him at his office. He was happy, but of course there couldn't be a big to-do about it cuz we're keeping it secret until my OB says all is well. I made an appointment today, and I have to wait til june 19th. Anyway i'm going to use some of those ideas from geocities with everyone else I have to tell! That'll be fun!
CONGRATS!!!
How exciting! I know with our twins, it happened in the first month. I was a bit shocked because I expected to have to try a LITTLE.
Good luck with you appointment. You must be so excited!
HOw exciting is that??? COngrats...I am trying to rack my brain and nothing is coming up. I don't know you could not tell him right away. I know me and my husband took the test together...well we were together when I took the test...
Maybe you can get him an extra gift on fathers day...like a plant...so it grows just like the baby will and say it is from the new little one...growing for him...something like that....
You know I googled it for you and this is something I found...
