My husband has a son who is almost 20, technically a teenager. He expects his dad to pay for everything, cinema passes, hifi, you name it. When my husband told him he was old enough to get a part time job and earn money for luxuries , he freaked! We are now the bad guys, and he and my husband are sadly losing touch. He is at college, and complains that all the jobs don´t pay enough and the hours don´t suit him. But as a student who worked through college as a waitress and barmaid, I do feel angry that he wants it all handed to him on a plate. My husband has branded him "lazy" but perhaps we are just being unfair? On the other hand, we need to teach him that not everything in life is free....
