Listen, watch and enjoy the beautiful tea moment:

Note: This is best watched with a cup of tea.

Restoring Moment: Love the Moment. Life is a Series of Moments

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Wed 01 of Aug, 2007 [15:44 UTC]

A quote today to restore you and a reminder that life is just a series of moments.

Flower in Darkness

Love the moment.

Flowers grow out of dark moments.

Therefore, each moment is vital.

It affects the whole.

Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed.

Restoring Moment: May your day bloom in hundreds of flowers

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Fri 27 of Jul, 2007 [16:09 UTC]

A beautiful quote from one of my favorites to quote, Thich Nhat Hahn, one of the best known Buddhist teachers in the West:

May our heart's garden of awakening

bloom with hundreds of flowers.

Your Restoring Moment for Today - May your day bloom in hundreds of flowers.

I found this restoring moment quote on several of the products available from Brush Dance (one of my favorite companies for calming images):

Restoring Moment: This Moment - The Only One You have For Sure

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Thu 26 of Jul, 2007 [07:55 UTC]

Food for thought from the lady herself, Oprah Winfrey. A reminder to focus on the present moment:

    Breathe.

    Let go.

    And remind yourself

    that this very moment

    is the only one

you know you have for sure.

Restoring Moment: Cultivate the Art of Eliminating the Non-essentials

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Sun 22 of Jul, 2007 [19:51 UTC]

Another of the inspiring images from Merry Happiness with an inspiring quote by Lin Yutang provides ruminations for reflecting and restoring:

Leaving Things Undone

Besides the noble art of getting things done,

There is the noble art of leaving things undone.

The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials.

Practice the Art of Leaving Things Undone

How many times do we run around worrying about the non-essentials? This week I am going to work on practicing the noble art of leaving (some) things undone like learning how to divide up the family's chores and getting my kids to help more around the house.

Maybe it's more of the noble art of getting someone else to help. smile

Restoring Moment: Share What Works for You

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Wed 18 of Jul, 2007 [20:57 UTC]

We all have the things that help us make it through the day...coping with children, crazy schedules, work and life in general.

Some of the things I have found to work for me include:

Relaxing by the Lake

  • Taking a deep breath
  • Drinking a cup of hot chocolate
  • Running and sitting a hot bath
  • Standing under a warm shower
  • Reading a magazine
  • Writing an article
  • Sipping a cup of tea
  • Taking a brisk walk
  • Spending a day at the spa
  • Relaxing by the lake or the beach (which doesn't seem to happen that often frown)

Post and share the healthy things you do to restore yourself as a parent.

Remember...your simple way of coping might be a very helpful technique to a frazzled mom (or dad)

Restoring Moment: Light a Candle

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Tue 17 of Jul, 2007 [16:36 UTC]

Patience Candle

I find during times of stress or duress, I will often light a favorite candle and just sit and watch the hypnotic flames. I try and pick one with a soothing, calming scent and thanks to Carlaexternal link, a favorite quote.

A good quote for Type-A Moms is a reminder to have some patience with ourselves and our children.

All fruits do not ripen in one season. Laure Junot

Caution: This is obviously *not* something to try with the kids around because of the potential fire damage.

Carla has made the Zena Moon Candlesexternal link since 2000. Her unique hand-poured candles honor your journey, delight your senses and feed your spirit. I have a collection of her candles around my desk with "Inspiration," "Radiance," "Take a Risk," and "Beyond Fear" those closest at hand.

Restoring Moment: A Flowering Tea Break

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Wed 11 of Jul, 2007 [07:27 UTC]

When I am especially stressed I find drinking tea to be particularly relaxing.

With all of the antioxidants and health benefits that have been discovered in green tea and others, drinking tea can not only soothe the nerves, but it can improve your health.

One of my favorite tea companies (I have several) Numi Teasexternal link creates these wonderfully unique teas blends with inspiring quotes. The quote on their Moonlight Spice blend - an orange spice white tea is as follows.

Sipping thoughts of peace, hope illuminates my way

Drinking a cup of tea while thinking about this quote is a wonderful one to remember any time you need to create a restoring moment.

Flowering Teas

Flowering Tea PotThe Numi Tea company also creates a unique flowering tea--"handsewn rosettes of fine tea leaves that elegantly bloom into a work of art when steeped in hot water."

Watching the tea bloom when placed in water is another way of finding a bit of peace.

The Flowering Tea can be viewed:

- or hereexternal link if you are able to view flash files on your computer.

It takes less than a minute to enjoy the "Dragon Lily" and "Emerald Sun" tea flowers unfolding.

Relax and Enjoy!

Restoring Moment: Caring for others...the ultimate success in life.

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Sun 08 of Jul, 2007 [21:20 UTC]

According to this quote by the Dalai Lama the role mother's take on in caring for her child(ren) should improve her own sense of well-being.

Ultimate Success in Life

The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It is the ultimate success in life.

When I looked at this quote, I realized that as Mothers we automatically cultivate a close, warm-hearted feeling for our children, so our minds should be at ease, rather than buzzing a mile a minute with the daily stressors.

Perhaps I need to be a bit more mindful of achieving this ultimate success in life, and remember success as I go through my busy bay, rather than just in the quiet moments once the girls are asleep.

Restoring Moment: Love in the Present Moment

posted by restoringmom1020 points  on Sat 07 of Jul, 2007 [21:09 UTC]

I get many of my restoring moments from reading little snippets of poetry or a quote that helps me to gain some much needed perspective when I am having a challenging day with my very energetic, daughters.

This inspiring quote is from Eliza Bloom. It is a reminder to love, to accept and to heal each other.

Flower in Hand''Our only role is to love in the present moment,

to accept each moment as it comes,

to do what we can to help and heal one another,

and to surrender ...

to a power greater than our small, separate selves.''

Eliza Bloom

I knew this was the image that I needed when I read the notes from the Photographer:

I was outside shooting photos, and my 11 y/o son walked up and handed me this flower he had picked for me! :-)

What a beautiful reminder of the restoring power of small gestures from our children.
