While working as a virtual assistant many have told me that they heard leaving blog comments is a great way to gain exposure to your site and increase traffic. I would have to say I do agree with this statement, but I only agree with this statement if you are actively reading the blog posts and leaving a genuine comment.

bloggers worthSince attending the Type-A Mom Conference, I've been thinking quite a bit about where I'd like to take my blogging.  When I started blogging a year and a half ago, I intended to use my blog as a platform to practice regular writing and to have my writing be seen. Since then, I see blogging as so much more. Blogging allows people to connect, to utilize their talents, to learn new things, and to grow. These things are especially poignant with respect to moms who blog.

A few days ago, I wrote a post titled: Brand Protection, Reputations & Social Networking – Do You Give It Much Thought? The post concentrated on how easy it is for friends, family, and employers to find things that you’ve posted on social networking sites such as blogs, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and why you should think twice about what you post.  Poorly thought out online posts can be damaging to your reputation, your employer’s reputation or just plain hurtful to friends and family.  With this in mind, I wonder:

social As bloggers, everyday we put our personal thoughts, and by extension, our personalities out for the whole world to see in a very public forum - the internet. Some of us even cross-link our social networking accounts ie: Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, Flickr, and Twitter to our blogs. (Yes - I'm guilty too). Thus, with a little digging, our true identities are easily revealed by internet savvy friends, family, disgruntled ex-lovers, current employers & potential employers. As much as we'd like to think the internet is anonymous, it truly isn't. Anything we post can be found - and not always found by the right people.

Baby Jaeli - one of only four known to have Jaeli's Syndrome. Sound extreme to say that bloggers helped save this baby? It really isn’t that extreme when you consider that within 24 hours of the first tweet going out, nearly 75 mothers, fathers and concerned citizens had donated enough coffee and pizza money to buy the milk Jaeli needed. The milk she wouldn’t have otherwise been able to have.

The Type-A Mom Conference held September 24 - 27 in Asheville, NC was amazing. Kelby Carr and those who worked closely with her created a conference model that will, hopefully, be adopted by other women-friendly conferences in the future. The Type-A Mom Conference offered a comprehensive experience for all attendees. There was something for everyone

woman at laptop bloggerWe're all aware of the mama drama that's been going on around the internet over the past few months. There are arguments on everything from whether bloggers should receive compensation for reviews to which bloggers are frequently invited to all the cool events. There's even dissension on what we should call ourselves - mommy bloggers, mom bloggers, parenting bloggers, or something else entirely. But what remains is that there are still many things that we all share in common. despite our differences. I asked some of my bloggy friends to share their thoughts with me on this subject awhile back, and I was very pleased with their responses.
