President Obama wants to give you money to update your kitchen with energy efficient appliances and buy that new front loading washer you've been wanting – seriously, and it could save you money, stimulate the economy, and cut pollution.
The Swiss manufacturer Sigg, under fire for quietly phasing out BPA from its bottle liner while benefiting from consumer preference for BPA-free food containers, announced this week that it would take back bottles made with its old BPA-containing liner through October 31st and issue credits for replacement BPA-free bottles.

Elimination communication is popping up all over the internet since Mayim Bialik was named celebrity spokes mom for the Holistic Moms Network. Also called "potty whispering" or sometimes the misnomer "infant potty-training," elimination communication can dramatically reduce the number of diapers washed or landfilled for families that do it.

The Swiss manufacturer of a popular brand of reusable aluminum water bottle revealed last week that the coating on the inside of the bottles contained the controversial chemical BPA until August 2008 when the company quietly phased it out. Bipshenol A, usually referred to as BPA, is used to make polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins. The chemical may be harmful the nervous and reproductive systems, especially of young babies.

The U.S. government's Cash for clunkers program has been making headlines as car sales neared pre-recession levels at the end of July and early August 2009. Projections about the economic and environmental impacts have been hotly debated even as the National Highway Safety Transportation Administration released its analysis of the fuel economy of cars bought and sold under cash for clunkers.
