Moms who write for Type-A Mom not only earn a share of ad revenue, but they can now also earn money through affiliate links.
You can do this by making legitimate and helpful mentions of products in articles. For example, if you are writing about the best Mother's Day movies, you could make the name of the movie into a link to Amazon.com. Then you would earn a commission if someone buys the movie. You can keep all commissions earned through this manner.
Here are the primary rules for affiliate linking. If these rules are not followed, the affiliate links will be removed from articles before published:
- Only text links or linked, reasonably-sized images of products described can be used. NO banner ads will be allowed.
- The reader must be served first, and we will not allow any articles that are written for the sole purpose of earning revenue through an affiliate link. A good guideline is this: would I write this article, and in the same way, if there was no potential for affiliate revenue? If the answer is yes, you are probably fine.
- You must still be appropriately critical of products even if you are linking. For example, if you are writing about a book on parenting but you have a couple of complaints about it, please mention them. Always serve your fellow moms first by providing the best advice possible.
- You can only use affiliates that are approved and on the list below. If there is an affiliate you would like to use and do not see here, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
- If you are writing about a specific product, link to the specific product and not just to the general site. For example, if you are making that list of best parenting books, the title called, "Coolest Parenting Book Ever," should link to the spot where the visitor can buy THAT book, not Amazon.com in general.
Here is a list of approved affiliates:
Between those four, you can actually use links to millions of products on thousands of sites. If you know about an affiliate program that would be helpful to Type-A Mom readers and is not available, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If you have any questions, please post them in the Type-A Mom writers' forum.
