Matthew and Benjamin, twin sons of my childhood friend, Andrea, are typical 4-year old boys. The are best buddies, and know when it's time to take a break from each other. Already they have a sense of competition and I'm not sure if that's a twin thing, or a boy thing. But they always seem to work it out. They also get along really well wtih big sister Annie.

Twins at DisneyWhen I heard Disney was offering Free on Your Birthday this year I thought to myself, now THAT is a real twin discount! A child ticket is about is about $63 which meant we would save over $120 per day on tickets to one of the parks. I checked airfare and locked in 4 tickets to Orlando from DC for only $150 round trip each…the trip was on!

Now that we are back I’m wondering how in the world I will top that next year. Well, I won’t. But I can still find some twofer deals.  For a family of four, any place that offers free on your birthday is giving me the real twin discount – two for the price of one.

I like to get unique and creative when I bring a gift to a baby shower. I love the 'ooohs' and 'ahhhs' from the guests. Since I can't knit or quilt or really even sew, a handmade gift is almost never an option. I say almost because I have hope that one day I will be crafty. Here are a number of ideas for baby shower gifts for the twin mom that are unique and will definitely be appreciated.

Twins know they are unique. They learn at an early age to explain to people that yes, they are twins, and even who is who. So why not celebrate their twin-ness with a book about twins?

As a mother of twins and or multiples our experiences with raising our children are unique, challenging to say the least, and we are learning the fine art of fairness with having two or more at one time. But what if other children were born before or maybe after the twins and or multiples? How much attention is given and or taken away from these singletons? Can we in all fairness treat them, discipline them, and or give them the attention that we give our twins and or multiples?

While they obviously both love competing (and winning) as cheerleaders, twins Ashley and Hailey do have their differences.

A great place to get advice on raising twins and how to tackle the various twin issues we all eventually face is Twitter. In addition to technical questions, I’ve had great luck tapping into the twin parents and even people who are twins themselves for advice, help with a question, even ideas for articles and blog posts.

Meet Jack and Maddie my first interview with twins of opposite sex. Their father was a little concerned that they would not really understand what it means when we asked them about being twins. But reading their answers, I think they get it. What do you think?
