There are a myriad of products on the shelves these days for those trying to conceive. Ovulation prediction kits are available from several manufacturers and have a decent degree of accuracy, but they can be costly. For me, taking my basal body temperature on a daily basis was an adequate substitute - at a much lower monthly cost. I also gained a much better understanding of my cycle, which can be critical when trying to conceive.

As you are trying to conceive, you see and hear about many different alternative therapies to help you. Herbs, acupuncture and fertility yoga are a few of the alternatives that couples may discuss and explore to help them on their way, whether they are used in the beginning of the process or in conjunction with more traditional fertility treatments. In previous articles, I have discussed the first two. So, in this article, I will talk about fertility yoga - what is it and what are the benefits.

When you are going through infertility, the whole world seems to be going through a baby-boom. Wherever you go, you see cute little bumps on women, maternity shops have spread like Starbucks cafes and even your closest friends and family seem to be participating in the tradition of a starting a family. It is really tough and nobody can understand how difficult it is unless you have gone through it yourself. When a couple is trying to conceive, the emphasis is on the woman since she is the one who has to get pregnant and carry the baby. Trying to conceive can be tough. We have spent so much time trying to "not get pregnant" that it seems ironic it can be difficult to "get pregnant" when we finally decide it is time. Those of us who have a more difficult time see others getting pregnant seemingly easily and there always seems to be an over abundance of pregnant women when that "time of the month" tells us we have to wait another month. It is natural to believe that our partner is going through the exact same emotional cycle that we are when we are trying to get pregnant. Although I did not undergo acupuncture myself, interestingly, acupuncture and infertility seem to be quite compatible and it is not just that they both use needles. Acupuncture stimulates energy channels in the body to bring the body into balance. Infertility treatments give best results where the body is in optimal condition. These two treatments, though worlds apart, support each other in the process of trying to conceive.
